About
Opened in 2009, State Road is a contemporary American tavern offering seasonally inspired food and warm hospitality on the spectacular island of Martha's Vineyard. The menu highlights beautiful local ingredients from nearby farms and bountiful local seafood. The menu is enhanced by herbs, vegetables and fruits from our own garden.
The restaurant, designed by Michael S. Smith, consists of three rooms. A mural by New York artist, Nancy Lorenz, adds a dramatic touch to the main dining room, which is lit by agrarian-inspired chandeliers created by Billy Hoff of Martha's Vineyard, and warmed by an Eben Armer hand-crafted stone fireplace. The cozy sunlit porch features an oil painting by Vineyard artist, Alan Whiting. The bar is reminiscent of a traditional New England tavern with its red leather banquette and zinc topped bar. Early American antiques are found throughout the restaurant.
State Road was voted best restaurant by Martha’s Vineyard Magazine 2010 & 2011.
